Actual birthdate

[edit]

Most if not all Internet sources for Colleen Fitzpatrick's birthdate are WRONG. She was born on July 20, 1969. I know because I went to high school with her. She graduated from Cedar Ridge HS in Old Bridge, NJ, in 1987. Birth records for South Amboy, NJ, where she was born to Vida and Jerry Fitzpatrick, list her birth date as July 20, 1969. She is therefore 38 years old. She has persistently shaved between one and 5 years from her age since the "Vitamin C" phase of her career began.

"Smile" & "Graduation (Friends Forever)"

[edit]

Colleen Fitzpatrick had a popular hit in 1999 with the single "Smile." That single was from her self-titled debut album, "Vitamin C."

The follow-up single during the spring of 2000 was "Graduation (Friends Forever)." The song would become a smash hit among prom-attending teens and graduating high school seniors.

Dracula 2000 was neither a horror masterpiece nor directed by Wes Craven (who in actuality produced). --Wasabe3543 15:29, 11 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Discrepancy in birth year

[edit]

The page for Colleen Fitzpatrick at Imdb.com gives her year of birth as 1970. However, her biography at Allmusic.com gives her year of birth as 1972.

I can provide a bibliography of web pages, magazine articles, and newspaper articles that give her age or birthdate.

Birthday

[edit]

I think her birth date is july 20, 1972, she said it in an interview once, i think.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.218.199.161 (talkcontribs)

Update: I found a chat transcript where she stated the date is July 20 [1] but did not give a year.--Fallout boy 03:56, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Update:: I found an article on MTV.com stating that her birthday was July 20, 1972. 13adam13 01:51, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I went to high school with her. She graduated in 1987. If she'd been born in 1972, she'd have been 15 at the time. She was born in 1969. Someone edited my earlier post to twist it around. She'll be 40 this year. I was one year ahead of her. Some things you simply remember. She's been trying to shave years off her age for a long time. She began this while trying to appeal to the preteen market as Vitamin C.

Confusing Trivia

[edit]

"Her brief voice cameo in Scary Movie 2 was the only celebrity as herself to use only one line with foul language." Does anyone know what this means? If so, care to fix it? Andyabides 20:29, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not a clue. Maybe it should be removed until it is clarified. - RedHot 11:19, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate?

[edit]

wikipedia shows her b-day as June 27th on this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_27

?

Wikipedia Search: Vitamin C

[edit]

When one searches "Vitamin C" In Wikipedia and then goes to the disambiguation page, there is absolutely no mention of her. I am going to fix this

Article should be called Vitamin C (singer)

[edit]

It makes no sense to me for this article to be called "Colleen Fitzpatrick", when she is widely known around the world as "Vitamin C". I have looked her up in many Pop and Rock Encyclopedias and she is always listed as, Vitamin C. So why is this article not listing her by her famous stage name? Come on people, this is just too stupid. Fix it up or I will.

Mad TV peformance

[edit]

I just watched her performce "Itch (or is it Hitch?)" on MAD TV and she was DEFINITELY lip-syncing the entire time. That should be added the recent fallout over slu Ashlee Simpson on SNL, I just wouldnt know how to phrase or cite it.

Yeah, I am watching the repeat on Comedy Central RIGHT NOW (3:55 PM EDT, 27OCT2008) and she is obviously lip-syncing!!! Who does this bitch think she is!?

4th album?

[edit]

What is that unreleased 3rd album? where is that information from? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.155.128.206 (talk) 14:32, 11 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

  • I believe that once Elektra dropped her, she signed to either V2 or Jive, and recorded her third album. The first single off of it was Last Nite (you can find the video on youtube and such), but when it flopped, the record was shelved and I believe Jive or V2 dropped her. LoveLaced 01:15, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Update: I found that it was V2. I couldn't find any "Jive" info, so I removed it from her label list.LoveLaced 17:41, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is another Colleen Fitzpatrick who is almost always confused with this Colleen Fitzpatrick

[edit]

Some of the information about Vitamin C is incorrect. There is another Colleen Fitzpatrick who is almost always confused with this Colleen Fitzpatrick. I know this because the other Colleen Fitzpatrick (the non Vitamin C one) is my mother's half sister. This information must be corrected. On the disambiguation page there should be a link to Vitamin C and a link to Colleen Fitzpatrick to stop th confusion. Colleen Fitzpatrick is an actress who has performed in several stage productions, including some on Broadway. These include Into the Woods, Cats, Lestat, and Company, among others. I am looking into getting more specifics from my mom about Colleen, and though I am no where near proficient in editing Wikipedia, I'll do my best.

Yes I realize that the actress you refer to with the same birth name exists and yes I agree that it has caused much confusion with the singer Vitamin C. However I have done my best to correct all information in this article to avoid any confusion between the two. I encourage you to create an article on the other Colleen and add it to the disambiguation page. Caden cool 21:05, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Damnit, Wikipedia, there used to be two images of her.

Where are her unreleased songs?

[edit]

The songs "Smash it Up" and "Learning to Love the Enemy", where are these songs from? Are they from a movie or soundtrack or something? and where can they be found? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shakirashakira92 (talkcontribs) 05:28, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jive Records?

Vitamin C (artist)Vitamin C (singer) – The "artist" is a singer and it seems logical to disambiguate by what she is. I came across the various related categories which I was going to rename to concur with article space, but felt this option should be considered first. Year of birth

[edit]

The two cited sources say she was born in 1972. Other sources (IMDB, Discogs, Starpulse) say she was born in 1969. All agree she graduated from high school in 1987, so if she was born in 1972 she graduated at age 15! If she was born in 1969 she graduated at age 18, which sounds more likely. 60.242.1.97 (talk) 08:30, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Protection request for Vitamin C

[edit]

Could an admin do me a favor and add protection to the Vitamin C article? Several IP's (who I think is the same person) has been repeatedly vandalizing the article for the last 3 or 4 years with a false birth date. For the longest time they kept removing 1972 and inserting 1969. I reverted them many times and left edit summaries stating the references did not support 1969. The sources used support year of birth as 1972. Recently these IP's have turned to a new method by removing the reliable refs supporting her correct 1972 date of birth and replaced them with unreliable sources for 1969, such as Imdb (which is not reliable) or People magazine (this source never mentions her date of birth). The edits by the IP's are obvious vandalism and I have been completely alone in reverting that IP for years by myself. I can't be able to protect the Vitamin C article from being damaged by this persistent IP forever. Now I will admit there is confusion in regards to the singer/actress Vitamin C and Colleen Fitzpatrick the actress/singer. Both share the same birth name, both are American, both are caucasian, and both act and sing. However, they are two completely different women. It's possible the confusion stems from this. On this talk page there is an entire thread devoted to this confusion if you are interested in reading it. I don't have the time to dig up all of the diffs from this IP vandal throughout the many years regarding this matter but if you have a quick look at the article history, you will see that this has been occurring for too long. Also about 10 days ago a new user showed up to edit the article displaying the same type of behavior as the IP, removing 1972 and inserting 1969. I would appreciate some help in fighting this persistent vandal. Thanks. Caden cool 17:52, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an admin but I will help you in reverting. It's a lonely job.

Birthdate

[edit]

As can be seen from this talk page, editors have historically made attempts to alter the birthdate given on this page. There's some evidence that Fitzpatrick has claimed to be a few years younger than she is, and that she may have given multiple "official" birthdates in the past. (Giving false birth dates was once commonplace for celebrities, but is now unusual; Ric Ocasek is another recent celebrity who did so, regularly claiming to be 5 years younger than he was, creating confusion in obituaries when he died.) Attempts to change the date given in this article have foundered given the confusion of sources, and a lack of reliable sources covering said confusion.

-The article currently gives a birthdate of July 20, 1972. It cites, alongside a book by Joel Whitburn, AllMusic for this date; AllMusic may indeed have given that birthdate at the time it was cited (February 2016), but by October 2016, at the latest, the date given on AllMusic had been changed to July 27, 1972 (unless it actually gave that date all along). AllMusic continues to give the July 27, 1972 date today.

-AllMovie currently gives July 20, 1972.

-IMDb currently gives July 20, 1972, but it has given different dates in the past, including June 27, 1970, and July 20, 1969. (Being user-generated, IMDb isn't an RS- but I'm noting its changes here as it illustrates some of the historical confusion over Fitzpatrick's birthdate.)

-The Library of Congress Copyright Catalog gives Fitzpatrick a birth year of 1969.

-Sources (including this article) agree that Fitzpatrick graduated high school in 1987, which implies the 1969 birth year is correct, though it's not impossible that she skipped grade(s).

WP:DOB says "If multiple independent reliable sources state differing years or dates of birth in conflict, the consensus is to include all birth dates/years for which a reliable source exists, clearly noting discrepancies." We have current RSes (AllMusic and AllMovie) that give, at least, July 20, 1972 and July 27, 1972; if the LoC catalog counts (it may count as a primary source?), then we have a source for 1969 as well. Given that Fitzpatrick has retired from her public-facing music and film careers, RS coverage that could clear up this confusion is not likely in the near future. If anyone else can dig up other good RSes with birthdates, that'd be great; as it stands, I reckon that we should probably note at least the alternate 1972 dates, and maybe note the confusion over the dates, and maybe the 1969 date as well? Yspaddadenpenkawr (talk) 22:05, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Late reply, but the last few Associated Press(which is considered a reliable source) articles that publish celebrities whose birthdays are in July list ages for her that match with a 1969 birth year. Here's the one from 2020 which says she turned 51[5]. Here's the one from 2021 which says she turned 52[6]. Here's the one from 2022 which says she turned 53[7]. And here's the one from just a couple weeks ago which says she turned 54[8].

I don't know about Allmusic, but I'm questioning the credibility for Allmovie when it comes to WP:DOB because for some actors it has the incorrect one. I mean for Laverne Cox it has 1984 even though her actual birth year was revealed about 7 years ago. I'm considering bringing this up on Wikipedia talk:Reliable sources/Perennial sources.Kcj5062 (talk) 01:59, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Those sources are good finds, and it's good the article has settled on the correct date now. I agree on the credibility issues with the RhythmOne sites- will post on WT:RS/PS shortly. Yspaddadenpenkawr (talk) 03:41, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
